Larking Gowen supports local girls’ rugby team

Larking Gowen is excited to sponsor the North Walsham RFC female U18 team. The rugby club set up their female club, the Valkyries, four years ago and today there are more than 50 girls on the books from the ages of 11 to 18 years.

The girls, who represent North Walsham RFC across Norfolk and the Eastern Counties, have certainly made their mark in the sport. Last year, seven girls were selected to represent the Eastern Counties Rugby team and four girls have been selected by the Saracens and invited to join their academy this year.

Larking Gowen’s support has meant that new shirts could be purchased for the U18 team, with the old shirts passed on to the younger teams.

Lucy Doyle, Valkyries Under 15 team captain, explains, “Girls’ rugby is a fast-growing sport and the increasing popularity of our team has meant we needed new shirts to ensure we could all wear our strip with pride. The support from Larking Gowen as a sponsor means the girls’ game and our team can continue to grow and achieve our fullest potential as players, whilst proudly representing our club.”

We will be following the Valkyries’ progress and wish the girls every success throughout the season.
