Recruitment | Professional Training
At Larking Gowen we offer a number of routes to study and a number of points of direct entry to the accounting profession.
We focus the majority of our recruitment activity for an intake of trainees in late August each year but are pleased to consider
applications throughout the year for all disciplines.
Each year we take on trainees to study both AAT and ACA courses as direct entrants. If you are educated to:-
- A level standard
- You will commence your study at AAT level, with the opportunity to progress to either ACA or
ACCA on completion of your first course.
- The AAT programme consists of 3 levels, Foundation, Intermediate and Technician level, but
with many students able to gain exemption from the Foundation level, you can be qualified in 2 years, or be ready to
move on to a higher level qualification.
- Detailed requirements..
- Degree standard
- You will commence your study at ACA level, a programme which will take 3 years of study
and work based experience to reach full qualification.
- Detailed requirements..
If you have high ambitions but are concerned about going to university and the associated tuition and living costs that
you will incur and spend many years repaying, you may want to consider the fast track route to full qualification.
You can join the profession to study AAT after taking A levels, and on completion transfer to the ACA programme,
achieving full qualification in just four years!
And all that whilst being paid a salary, and having all your tuition fees paid! This really is a great opportunity and a
real alternative to taking a degree without having to feel that you have compromised your long term career options.
Detailed requirements..
If you are already certain that you want to specialise in taxation, you can join the profession by studying for the
Chartered Institute of Tax examinations, commencing either with ATT or CTA depending on the level of general education you
have attained. It is likely that your role will be based in our central tax team, providing you with the opportunity to
support your course of study with practical, hands on experience of personal and corporate tax.
Detailed requirements..
If you are interested in discussing career opportunities in one of our support functions, please contact the HR team
directly, who will be happy to discuss the options available in the following areas:
- Finance and Facilities
- Human Resources
- IT and Data Services
- Marketing
- Secretarial
Alongside your professional development, here at Larking Gowen we believe that it is equally important to develop you
personally, ensuring that you have the skills required to support your technical ability in servicing our clients.
We invest time and effort each year in appraising your performance, to understand your personal strengths and development
needs in order to create your personal action plan to achieve progression in your job responsibilities and long term career.
