Self-employed can now claim second grant under SEISS
Tuesday, 18 August 2020
The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) has been extended and, from 17 August 2020, is open for claims for a second grant. If you’re eligible, you can claim on the gov.uk website from 17 August 2020 up until 19 October 2020.
The government SEISS grant is available to self-employed workers across the UK to cover lost income while the country is in lockdown. If you were eligible for the first SEISS grant and can confirm to HMRC that your business has been adversely affected by coronavirus on or after 14 July 2020, you’ll be able to make a claim for a second and final grant from 17 August 2020. However, you don’t need to have claimed the first grant to receive the second (for example, if you’ve been adversely affected by COVID-19 only more recently).
Unfortunately, claims cannot be made by tax agents or advisers on your behalf. However, we can, of course, check that you’ve received the correct amount and request a review if the amount is incorrect.
