International Women’s Day - Amanda Ninham - Ask Questions and Drive Change

Friday, 06 March 2020

Amanda Ninham has a wide remit as MHA Larking Gowen head of human resources. She joined the firm four years ago, and has been instrumental in our award-winning approach to employee engagement. In 2019, the firm was named Best Employer at the Norfolk Business Awards and won the Working Families UK Best Practice Award for Best Flexible Working.

“Both my nan and mum had to give up work when they got married, and some of my family expressed surprise when I returned to work after my son was born.” Amanda says. “Today, a more flexible workplace makes it far easier for both women and men to make their own choices.”

While greater numbers of men are taking parental leave, still some have trepidation that such a decision could limit their careers. Amanda is happy to allay their concerns.

“Women have been facing this issue for years,” says Amanda. “Change has happened, though. Over the course of my career, I’ve seen the value in challenging the status quo. Be the driver on your journey, not a passenger.
