Christmas celebration showcases the best of Ipswich

The Ipswich team at Larking Gowen recently hosted a revamped version of their annual Christmas celebration, showcasing St Stephen’s Church as a fantastic new event space for the town. The venue is operated by Brighten The Corners, a not-for-profit organisation supporting the local live music scene.

“As one of their corporate supporters, we were keen to host our Christmas drinks at the church,” said Acting Head of Marketing, Francesca Mallen. “We’d already held a successful smaller event there earlier in the year and its great to support a good cause in the local community.”

Colchester band Into the Sun entertained guests with a set of crowd-pleasing classics, and food was provided by the team from the Emmaus Royal Oak community café, who served up tacos from a dedicated station.

“It was a real pleasure to showcase the work that Brighten The Corners are doing for the town, while enjoying a beautiful new venue for our festive celebrations.” Said Francesca.

Brighten The Corners is a youth-focused, not-for-profit music organisation. They run live music venues, festivals, and training programmes for the local community. During the day, St Stephen’s Church also operates as a vibrant café, home to the Hex Record Shop. Thanks to a £1.92 million Towns Fund investment in 2025, awarded by Ipswich Borough Council, Brighten The Corners will also be transforming The Baths into a new Creative Digital Skills Lab.

“We’re proud to support the team at Brighten The Corners,” said Francesca. “We’re excited to see the transformation of The Baths and the positive impact this will have on Ipswich.”
