With our years of experience, we're able to stay ahead of all complex changes in UK and global tax legislation delivering a professional service for your business. We'll advise you on the best time for capital expenditure to minimise your tax bill. We also take care of all taxation matters for your employees.

We'll make sure your business is fully compliant with all corporation tax requirements:

  • Preparing corporation tax returns
  • Submitting returns to HMRC
  • Fulfilling statutory accounts tagging requirements
  • Calculating amount of corporation tax liability
  • Advising on payment dates of liabilities

We'll also provide:

  • Planning to minimise corporation tax liability
  • Quarterly accounting for large companies and groups
  • Efficient wealth extraction (following up on recent changes to pensions and to tax on dividends)
  • Incentivised staff tax efficiency, including salary sacrifice and share schemes

Inheritance tax

Our capital tax accountants will help you plan for the future to minimise inheritance tax liability, reducing the impact on your family's wealth.

Capital gains tax (CGT)

With current rules making CGT rates lower than equivalent income tax rates, and other schemes such as entrepreneurs' relief, we can work with you to help minimise your CGT bill.

Research and development claims (R&D)

If your company has carried out any R&D projects, you may qualify for significant tax relief. We can help you identify these, along with the level of qualifying expenditure to maximise your claim.

  •     Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can get tax relief of £230 for every £100 spent on R&D
  •     33.35% tax credit for qualifying expenditure if the company is making a loss
  •     An 11% tax credit for large companies

Patent box

If your company derives income from patents you may qualify for a corporation tax rate of 10% on profits derived from those patents. We can establish whether your company qualifies and help you make a claim.

  • Benefits run from April 2017 to June 2021 for companies that joined before June 2016
  • A new scheme is available for those joining after July 2016

Businesses can get tax relief on fixtures in buildings, such as plumbing and electrical installations, as part of capital expenditure tax allowances.

With legislation introduced in April 2012, it's important to understand the full value of fixtures in a property when you are buying or selling.

We can review your capital expenditure over recent years and establish whether you can claim additional tax relief.

Larking Gowen acts for a number of theatrical organisations and other organisations in the not for profit sector. Claims can be made for qualifying expenditure incurred after 1 September 2014.

Relief is obtained on qualifying expenditure and overall available loss on the theatrical production trade. There are two rates of relief:

  • 25% for touring productions (subject to certain criteria to qualify as touring)
  • 20% for non-touring productions

At Larking Gowen we can help in all matters of tax and finance, and offer advice, when you set up in business. We will also give ongoing support for restructuring, considering all tax implications and other issues that relate to your future exit strategy. The areas we cover include:
