Biography
Andrew joined Larking Gowen in July 2012, having originally commenced as an accountancy trainee in 1980, becoming a partner in 2014.
Prior to 2012, Andrew was an Official Receiver in Norwich and over the 29 years in that role, with the Insolvency Service, dealt with countless liquidations and bankruptcies. He therefore has particularly benefited from significant exposure and experience in personal bankruptcy cases varying up to £150m deficiencies.
Andrew likes to provide directors with solutions and has utilised both formal and informal processes, as appropriate.
He is very interested in civil recovery cases where HMRC are the main creditor and indeed has replaced several liquidators in such cases to then proceed to make significant recoveries against both directors and others.
Cases of note where he has been appointed over the past few years include:
- The administration of a golf club in Suffolk
- Liquidation of an accountancy practice, where the main director was deceased and the subsequent recovery of £3.5m from a Swiss bank account
- Administration of a deceased insolvent doctor
- Solvent liquidation of a company operating a hospital contract.
Andrew is both a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, and is also an affiliate member of the ICAEW.
He is also director of the Joint Insolvency Examinations Board and a member of several R3 committees.
